Heather May Young

For more than 20 years, Heather has disrupted the status quo by deliberately opting out of coercive education for herself and her child. Growing up, although successful according to schoolish standards, she never felt fulfilled in the conventional setting, so after the 10th grade she left the system to continue learning on her own terms. She danced, worked, travelled, and in her mid-twenties chose to attend college, completing B.A. degrees in Dance, Education and an M.A. in Consciousness Studies. Following this, she dove into a variety of somatic trainings and in 1999 began her journey as a somatic practitioner. In 2003 her daughter was born and she embarked on her deepest learning yet through the practices of attachment parenting, respectful parenting and the natural extension of those: unschooling. It was an incredible journey that allowed her to truly understand the profound benefits of living and learning as a family outside of conventional systems.

Through her lens as a somatic practitioner, it became clear to her that unschooling encompassed the holistic approaches she had been dedicated to for years; a path which includes all of life, with embodiment, relationships, healing and liberation at its center. In 2020 with her own daughter nearly grown and driven by the passion to share this transformative path with others, she founded a self-directed learning community. After three years at the helm, she made the choice to step back and deliver ownership of the operation to the participating families. Today, as an unschooling mama who raised her now grown unschooled daughter without the benefits of a like-minded community, Heather is wholeheartedly dedicated to sharing the wisdom she has gleaned over the years and to ensuring that no family or young person who desires to embark on the unschooling journey feels alone.

Maritza Luz Vega

As a spiritual counselor and healer, family constellation facilitator, pre and perinatal practitioner, and bodyworker, Maritza has developed profoundly transformative experiential programs that empower single or coupled individuals to break through unconscious patterns and blocks so they can live their lives in True Love and help create a better world. She brings a unique integrative perspective that addresses all stages of family from preconception through life

Determined to live her life in Love, Maritza vowed, at the age of 14, to break the cycle of abuse from her family of origin. She thought she healed enough to marry and have a child, but her divorce opened the doors for a 17+ year healing journey. Out of that healing journey, she has two Master in Divinity degrees, a bachelors in Foundations for Regenerative Family-Centered Living, and a knowing without a doubt that it’s possible to reclaim our birthright to profound Love, relationships, strong families, and living our true purpose on a healthy, thriving planet.
